Warner Music Group (WMG) and Spotify have announced a new multi-year agreement aimed at strengthening their collaboration in both recorded music and music publishing. The deal is designed to enhance opportunities for artists, songwriters, and fans while driving innovation in the music streaming industry.

Through this agreement, WMG and Spotify will work together to expand the future of audio-visual streaming, introduce new fan experiences, and offer a broader catalog of music and video content. The partnership will also explore new subscription models and differentiated content bundles, making paid music subscriptions more appealing to listeners worldwide.

A key component of the agreement is the reinforcement of ‘artist-centric’ royalty models, which aim to reward artists based on their ability to engage audiences. Additionally, the deal expands direct licensing between Warner Chappell Music and Spotify to several new countries, including the U.S., ensuring greater benefits for songwriters in an evolving digital landscape.

WMG CEO Robert Kyncl highlighted the significance of the agreement, calling it a "big step forward" in aligning the interests of rights holders and streaming platforms. “This major agreement delivers new benefits for artists, songwriters, and fans while unlocking further collaboration that expands the music ecosystem,” Kyncl said.

Spotify’s Founder and CEO, Daniel Ek, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the companies’ shared commitment to growth and innovation. “For Spotify, 2025 is a year of accelerated execution, and our partners at Warner Music Group share our commitment to rapid innovation and sustained investment in our leading music offerings,” Ek stated.

With this deal, WMG and Spotify reaffirm their commitment to shaping the future of music streaming, providing new opportunities for creators, and delivering richer experiences for listeners worldwide.
